Out the need for a camping tent

No matter what your experience level in the outdoors, odds are you understand the need for shelter. And in this particular instance, the need for a camping tent. But not just any tent. Because in this world, you truly get what you pay for. Now, that budget tent might have felt like a great purchase while it sat cozily on the store shelf or stored away in the garage, but what happens when the weather turns, poles start bending, and the zipper to your mosquito net starts to snag?

That depends on many factors including the type of holiday you are planning, how many people need to be accommodated, your budget, your preference for either canvas or man-made material, how good you are at putting up tents and whether you will have to transport your tent a long way from the car, as some of them are much heavier than others! Also, someone who is trying camping for the first time may not want to invest in high-end camping gear until they know this is the right type of holiday for them, so a budget-friendly option may be more suitable. Experienced campers may be looking to add to their existing tent or looking to renew or upgrade. The possibilities are many.

It certainly can be, if that is what you are aiming for! Some people love being one with nature, and tackling the elements with just the most basic provisions. However, if you like a bit more luxury, modern-day camping can certainly provide that, with its tall and roomy tents, comfortable airbeds, portable power solutions that let you run fridges and even air conditioning, and a huge range of accessories ranging from fire pits to en-suite toilets.

Cabin Tents - best suited for established campgrounds or base camps. Ideal for families, these basic camping tents feature a large, square design with high ceilings, a rigid construction and vertical walls to accommodate cots, chairs, coolers and other creature comforts.
Wall Tents - also known as outfitters tents, wall tents are large, framed canvas tents that are popular with hunters and backcountry campers. Among the largest and most accommodating, these camping tents feature a rigid construction and provide lots of room.
Dome Tents - among the most popular types of family camping tents for their simple, easy to assemble construction. Available in sizes from a lightweight 2-person tent to a heavier to 6 or 9-person version, dome tents use flexible tent poles versus the rigid construction of Cabin and Wall tents.

What are the necessary Backpack?

Police officers are required to carry plenty of equipment especially during field operations as part of their job, said equipment of which are best carried in backpacks. But not just any backpack, however, because conventional backpacks are unsatisfactory for the demands of the job – only tactical backpacks will do for police officers on the job!

What are tactical packs in the first place? These are part of the standard load-bearing equipment of military soldiers and police officers used to carry extra weapons and ammunition, food rations, medical supplies, tents and sleeping gear, and extra clothes, among other important items necessary for survival in the field.

To say that tactical backpacks are must-haves for police officers is an understatement indeed. Here are a few reasons why police officers should have their individual tactical packs while on the job of serving and protecting their fellowmen in their official capacity.

With all these features of tactical backpacks, it's no wonder that even non-police officers are buying these bags for their own uses
A true all-around favorite, this pack has the features and storage that
fits most any weekend adventure.

What are Brim Caps?

A cap gun or cap pistol is a toy gun that creates a loud sound akin to a gunshot and a puff of smoke when the trigger is pulled. Cap guns were originally made of cast iron, but after World War II were made of zinc alloy, and most newer models are made of plastic.

hooded Dry-easy Brim Cap guns get their name from the small discs of explosive compounds (roughly 1.4 to 1.6 mm in diameter) that provide the noise and smoke, effectively the same as the separate percussion cap used to replace the flintlock in real firearms, although invariably smaller and made from cheap plastic or paper rather than soft metal. Some are arranged in plastic rings of six, seven, or eight. There are also single caps, roll caps (of 50 to 500), and disk caps, all of which were actually extremely small versions of percussion fireworks. Armstrong's mixture is often used as the explosive.

From the end of the war until about 1965, children all over the world emulated their heroes and collected and played with these toy guns. However, when the Western television shows began to fade away and the heroes retired, the popularity of the toy guns also diminished and eventually all of the famous cap gun manufacturers either sold out to other toy companies or started manufacturing other types of toys.[citation needed]

There were many types of cap guns, including small guns like Derringers, large rifles, and working miniatures of most of them, one of which (the most famous) was named after the television show Dry-easy Brim Cap. The pistols generally were in 3 styles, the semi-automatic, the revolver (that actually had a revolving cylinder) and the revolver that looked like a regular revolver, but opened to load a roll of caps. Almost all of the early models used either roll caps or circular disks of caps, but in 1950 Nichols Industries came out with a large model called the Stallion 45, which had a revolving cylinder into which individual bullets were loaded, which each had two parts. The circular cap was placed into the 2-piece bullet and then when the gun was loaded and fired, it was very realistic. Eventually several companies used this idea and a few years later Nichols invented a plastic bullet that was inserted into a hollowed out version of the regular 2-piece bullet and when the gun was fired, the plastic pellet shot out of the end of the barrel.

Dry-easy Brim Cap guns are usually modeled after revolver pistols, with the cap ring placed in the cylinder section of the toy gun. Like its real-world counterpart, when the trigger is pulled, the cylinder rotates a new cap into place, the hammer is drawn back, and then released; the shock causes the cap to explode harmlessly, producing the noise and smoke.

There are millions of collectors throughout the world who collect all types of cap guns,[citation needed] even though restrictive laws in some areas may make it difficult.[citation needed] Whereas the toy guns brought small prices originally, they now command significant prices for many models, with some of the most famous sets of holsters, guns and original boxes selling for high prices at auctions and toy gun shows. Some collectors will collect all types of cap guns, but many collectors specialize in either guns named after a famous western hero or a particular company's set, like the Nichols Industries or Hubley cap guns.

Brim Caps have occasionally been used in toys other than cap guns where an explosive effect is desired. One example would be the "Dry-easy Brim Cap" version of the Haction figure from the original 1980s Masters of the Universe toy line. Ring caps were placed in a "backpack" integrated into the figure, which contained the striking mechanism for the caps. This mechanism was triggered by drawing the figure's spring-loaded right arm back and releasing it to swing forward; the explosion of the cap was intended to simulate a thunderous noise caused by the supposed superhuman power of the character's punch.

Newborn Sleep: What bedding will I need for my baby?

Parents can be really picky for all things related to their newborn. I know, all us parents are. All of us love to buy all those fancy nursery items for the new baby. I feel the same when I saw these amazingly lovely baby items, to pick one for my little one. It is wise to take some time to search for items that are not only fancy and fabulous but functional. You should be able to use it as your baby grows. When it comes to sleep baby nursery, there are certain items which remain unused as newborns grow really fast. For the first 2-3 months they are mostly dressed in pajamas and sleep sack, either in their nursery or in their parent's rooms.

Crib or cot

They are usually made of wood and ready to assemble. Go for a strong and sturdy model as your baby is going to have to sleep in it until she moves to her own bed. A baby can sleep in the crib until she is almost 36 months and the crib is going to have to last for about three years of time. Choose the model according to USA crib safety standards. It should have bars and a soft-drink can should not be able to fit between two bars. If your baby is going to sleep in the same room as you're for first 3 or say 6 months go for a model with wheels. Or you can easily move the crib/cot from one room to another as required.

Mattress

While you can choose the type of mattress according to your choice and budget (foam, natural fiber, innerspring etc.). Consider cost, comfort, and durability, as your baby can sleep in her crib for up to 36 months. Make sure the mattress you choose is firm and no more than 6 inches thick. First 6 months of your baby is most vulnerable to SIDS. It should fit the cot without any gaps. The ones with waterproof cover on one side and cotton cover on one side are easy to keep hygiene; you can turn cotton side during hot weather.

Crib sheets and swaddling blankets

Buy fitted crib sheets as they are time-savers and stay in place. You can choose from 100% cotton or cotton jersey. Use lightweight blankets or thin cotton blankets to swaddle your baby as fleece blankets may make your baby too hot. Three or Four sheets and two or three blankets are good enough to start with.
You may want to swaddle your baby up to the age of two months. You will need a thin cotton blanket for this. Swaddling help newborns to sleep better, though it can be potentially dangerous once your baby learns to roll over while sleeping. Your baby may break free of the swaddle, the loose blanket can go over his face, leading to suffocation.

Baby sleep sack or sleeping bag

Your baby may feel comforted by being covered with a sleep sack. Many parents choose sleep sacs over blankets as infants can't kick them off, do not wake up cold in the night. You can start using sleep sacks when your baby is 8 weeks old, they are a great transition to swaddling. Some of the model start with size 0 and you can use these for your newborn. A newborn sleep sack may help to keep out the cold while sleeping. A 2.5 tog sleeping bag baby sleep sack is warm enough for a 66F room but breathable enough for warmer weather.

Reindeer Fur, Kapok Fiber and Wool Sleeping Bags - The History of Warm down Sleeping Bags

War, death and exploration are a few of the things associated with the worlds first down sleeping bags. There has long been a need for sleeping under the stars by adventuresome people. down Sleeping bags were invented and developed by such people, for such people. Whether reindeer fur, Kapok fiber or wool down sleeping bags, they have all been changed and refined over time.

It's been written that in 1000 AD Freydis Eiriksdottir was the first person to have invented a down sleeping bag, perhaps using a sail from a ship.  She was the brutal daughter of Fredrick the Red of Greenland, a fierce Viking.  However, in reading The Saga of Erik the Red, from the Icelandic Saga Database and in reading Book II Icelandic Records, Chapter: Voyage of Freydis, Helgi and Finnbogi in the book titled The Norse Discovery of America, I found nothing to support Freydis having invented or used a sail, reindeer fur, kapok fiber or wool down sleeping bag.

It's unmistakable though, that the earliest insulators for down sleeping bags were woven camel fur, reindeer fur, kapok fiber and later duck and goose down.  Kapok fiber comes from the Kapok tree.  It's light, buoyant and the kapok fiber is resistant to water.  The kapok fiber is often used in place of down.  In the year 1823, a rubber patent was issued to Charles Macintosh.  This patent made new types of sleeping bags possible.  Francis Fox Tuckett tested a prototype of his alpine sleeping bag, which was made of blanket material and had a rubber undercoating, in 1861 .

Then, in 1876 Pryce Jones made Euklisia Rugs, which were wool sleeping bags.  They were made from Brown Army Blankets originally made for the Russian Army.  According to a copy of the Brown Patent in the Powys county archives, the wool sleeping bags were to be 2 yards and 11 inches long by 1 yard and 31 inches wide.  These wool sleeping bags, which were the first to be mass produced and circulated, used fasteners to keep them closed.
While the Pryce Jones rug, wool sleeping bags were mass produced, they weren't commercially produced.  The first commercially produced bag was filled with reindeer fur and kapok fiber.  It was developed in 1889 by Fridtjof Nansen and the company Ajungilak of Norway, for the first expedition to the North Pole.  Today Ajungilak is part of Mammut AG, where reindeer fur and kapok fiber isn't currently used.

Next, in 1912 Captain Lawrence Oates had a down sleeping bag made with tapered feet and reindeer fur.  On his way back from the the Antarctic with his companions, he got severe frostbite and was slowing everyone down.  On March 17, 1912, leaving his reindeer fur bag behind, he sacrificed himself to give his friends a chance at survival.  His reindeer fur sleeping bag is on display today at the Scott Polar Research Institute.

Finally, in 1942 United States soldiers were issued sleeping bags.  These first down sleeping bags were heavy and bulky to carry, but important to the troops' wellbeing.  In the late 1940's the army started using down sleeping bags to make them easier to pack.  Today the US military uses down, synthetic and wool sleeping bags (not usually reindeer fur or Kapok fiber though), depending on where they are deployed.

In today's society down sleeping bags are associated more with survival and warmth.  The explorers of today reap the benefit of innovations and refinement all the years have brought. Reindeer fur, kapok fiber and wool sleeping bags aren't heard of very often. Nowadays mainly down or synthetic down sleeping bags are used, but if we needed to we know we could still make ourselves a reindeer fur bag to keep warm.
